Boardwalk Essences is the life practice of Kay Scrimshaw, based in Albany, Western Australia.

From her small home studio overlooking the ocean, Kay blends the breath of the land into essence — drawing on native botanicals to create small‑batch formulations shaped by emotional clarity, sensory connection, and elemental grace.

Kay’s studio is a sanctuary of sensory care, shaped by ritual, ecological sensitivity, and a deep relationship with place. Her work reflects a cultural shift away from mass production and toward authenticity, sufficiency, and quiet presence.
Her path began living close to the English countryside, gathering herbs with her Irish grandmother. It deepened in New Zealand with The Body Shop, and found its true voice in Western Australia’s wildflower coast, desert heartlands, and forest hush. Her practice is shaped by decades of study, lived experience, and a lifelong devotion to the healing power of Nature.
Her Legacy Collection honours her work with Solaris Cancer Care and the Albany branch of Cancer Council WA — blends created to soothe, steady, and uplift. Her ongoing community offerings reflect a commitment to gentle, accessible wellbeing for all.

Within every Boardwalk Essences formulation, each detail — from the choice of oils to the poetic language and tactile packaging — is an invitation into ritual and belonging.
